"Landschappen en portretten zijn de genres waarmee Carla Roelofs zich bezighoudt. De schilderkunstige aspecten, zoals verfbehandeling, compositie, kleur, lijn en vlak spelen in al haar werk een dominante rol. Een landschap is niet zelden aanleiding voor het in gang zetten van het creatieve proces. De eigen beleving van zo'n landschap staat daarbij voorop. Dit komt tot uiting in sterk persoonlijke kleurkeuzes en een expressionistische wijze van schilderen. Grote vlakken en veel aandacht voor de vorm resulteren over het algemeen in uiterst gereduceerde werken, waarin alleen plaats is voor de essentie, voor datgene waar het volgens Roelofs in een landschap om gaat."

"Landscapes and portraits are the genres with which Carla Roelofs occupies herself. The aspects of the art of painting, such as treatment of paint, composition, colour, line and space play a prominent part in all her work. A landscape is often the occasion for a start of the creative process. The personal experience of such a landscape is prominent in this process. This is expressed in an outspoken personal choice of colour and an expressionistic way of painting.
